How it works

Into the pipe, locked, and back to deck.

Ball-and-taper connector in cross-section: stab in, lock under load, release (illustrative)LoadTapered mandrelHardened steel ballsGrip grows with loadBall cagePile or pipe wall01 Stab in02 Lock under load03 Release at zero load03 Lift clear
As the load comes on, each ball rolls up its taper and wedges against the wall. More load means more grip.

01

Insert

The tool slides into the open end of the pipe on its deployment arm, with plenty of clearance.

02

Lock and seal

Balls grip the pipe wall mechanically, with a high pre-load. Seals and a pig catcher let the line be dewatered before it is lifted.

03

Recover and release

The pipe is lifted to deck, then the tool disconnects simply, ready to use again on the next line.
