MoorLOK™

The subsea mooring connector with a 100% failure-free track record.

Over 300 MoorLOK™ connectors are in service. Built for FPSOs, drill ships, spars, TLPs and floating wind, it connects without divers and can be released at any point in the life of the field.

How it works

Stab in, lock under load, release at any point in the life of the field.

Ball-and-taper connector in cross-section: stab in, lock under load, release (illustrative)LoadTapered mandrelHardened steel ballsGrip grows with loadBall cagePile or pipe wall01 Stab in02 Lock under load03 Release at zero load03 Lift clear
As the load comes on, each ball rolls up its taper and wedges against the wall. More load means more grip.

01

Stab in

The male connector stabs into the receptacle on the anchor or pile, helped home by a guide cone.

02

Lock

The ball-and-taper grips mechanically as the mooring line takes the load. A secondary lock adds a further safeguard.

03

Release

The connector can be disconnected at any time in the life of the field, which cuts the cost of mooring line maintenance and replacement.
